Aftercare Guide

Thank you for choosing The Muse Medi Spa for your dermal filler treatment. This guide outlines what to expect after your procedure, how to support healing, and when to seek assistance. Please read the following carefully and follow the advice closely.

General Aftercare Instructions

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise for 48 hours

  • Stay out of direct sunlight for 48 hours. Apply SPF 50 regularly

  • Absolutely no sunbeds. UV exposure breaks down filler and damages the skin

  • Do not touch or massage the treated area. Avoid makeup for 12 hours

  • Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen and aspirin for 48 hours to reduce bruising

  • Mild swelling, bruising, and lumpiness are normal and should settle within 14 days

  • Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling. Take paracetamol if needed

  • Do not hesitate to contact us with concerns

Area-Specific Advice

Cheeks, Chin & Jawline

  • May feel swollen, hard, or firm for up to 72 hours

  • Sleep on your back to reduce pressure

  • Cold compress and paracetamol can help with tenderness

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

  • Do not wear glasses on the bridge of your nose for 4 weeks

  • Avoid hot or steamy environments

  • Contact us if you notice anything unusual – this area carries higher risk

Tear Troughs

  • Puffiness is common for up to 2 weeks

  • Gently pat under-eye area twice daily to support lymphatic drainage

  • Apply moisturiser or gel daily using moderate pressure

  • Avoid sun exposure around the eye area

How to Check Capillary Refill Time

Capillary refill helps confirm healthy blood flow to the treated area:

  • Press the injected area for 5 seconds then release

  • Normal refill time is under 2 seconds

  • If skin remains pale or colour is slow to return, contact us immediately

Know the Signs: Vascular Occlusion

This is rare but serious. Seek urgent help if you notice:

  • Pallor: Pale patch of skin that feels cold and slow to regain colour

  • Livedo Reticularis: Mottled, net-like skin pattern

  • Pustules: Blistering or small breakouts on the skin

These may indicate compromised blood flow and require urgent attention. Necrosis can develop 4 to 7 days after untreated occlusion.
