Pre-care & Post-Care Guide

Thank you for choosing The Muse Medi Spa. To achieve the best results from your HydraFacial and avoid unnecessary irritation, please follow the guidelines below. These steps will help you prepare your skin before treatment and support its recovery afterwards.

Pre-care checklist

Do before your appointment

1. Hydrate
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment. Hydrated skin responds better to the HydraFacial.

2. Use gentle skincare
Stick to a simple skincare routine with hydrating cleansers and moisturisers for a few days prior.

3. Wear sunscreen
Protect your skin from sun exposure to prevent irritation or sensitivity before the treatment.

4. Disclose medications or skin conditions
Inform your provider if you're using any prescription products (like Accutane, Retin-A) or have conditions like rosacea or eczema.

Avoid before your appointment

1. No retinol or vitamin A products
Stop using retinoids or retinol at least 48 hours before your HydraFacial.

2. No exfoliating treatments
Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or any exfoliating products (like AHAs/BHAs or scrubs) for 5–7 days prior.

3. No waxing or hair removal
Avoid facial waxing, threading, or depilatory creams on the treatment area for 48 hours before.

4. Avoid excess sun exposure or tanning
No tanning beds or long hours in the sun for at least 72 hours before, as sunburned skin can’t be treated.

5. Skip Botox or fillers
Wait 2 weeks after Botox or dermal fillers before getting a HydraFacial on the same area.

Optional: Bring a list of products you use
This helps your aesthetician customise the treatment and avoid any potential irritants.

Post-care instructions

HydraFacial aftercare is relatively simple but important to ensure you get the best results and avoid irritation. Here’s a breakdown of what to do (and what to avoid) after your treatment:

Do

1. Hydrate
Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and support the hydration boost from the facial.
Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser daily.

2. Use gentle skincare products
Stick to non-irritating, fragrance-free products for at least 24–48 hours.
Opt for gentle cleansers and avoid exfoliants or products with acids (like AHAs/BHAs) for a couple of days.

3. Apply SPF
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily, as your skin may be more sensitive to the sun after the treatment.

4. Follow your aesthetician’s recommendations
They may suggest specific serums or a tailored skincare routine based on your skin type.

Avoid

1. Sun exposure
Stay out of direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 48 hours post-treatment.

2. Heavy makeup
Avoid wearing makeup for the rest of the day after your HydraFacial to let your skin breathe.

3. Exfoliating products or treatments
No chemical peels, scrubs, retinoids, or laser treatments for at least 3–5 days.

4. Intense workouts or saunas
Avoid excessive heat and sweating for 24 hours to reduce risk of irritation.

5. Harsh products
Skip products with alcohol, retinol, or acne medications unless approved by your provider.

How long do results last?

You’ll see a healthy glow immediately, with results typically lasting 5–7 days or more.
For best results, regular treatments every 4–6 weeks are recommended.
