Pre-Care & Post-Care Guide
Thank you for choosing The Muse Medi Spa. This guide outlines the essential steps before and after your Motus AY laser treatment. Following these instructions carefully will help reduce risks and improve results.

Prelaser care
Shave the treated area 24 hours before — shaving only; no waxing, plucking, bleaching, or depilatory creams for at least 4–6 weeks
Avoid tanning or fake tan — no sunbeds or prolonged sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before treatment. If any residue of fake tan is present on the skin, your session will be lost
Stop topical actives — avoid retinoids or Vitamin A products at least 2 weeks prior
Arrive clean — no makeup, deodorant, perfumes, or lotions on the treatment area
Disclose medications or skin conditions — antihistamines, ibuprofen, or alcohol may need to be avoided 48 hours before
Patch test & consultation — ensure suitability by undergoing a patch test and consultation at least 48 hours prior to your first appointment
Postlaser care
Immediately after
Cool the area with a cold flannel or cool pack (no ice directly)
Use sunscreen — apply SPF 30+ a few minutes later, daily during and after treatments
Short-term aftercare (first few days)
Avoid hot activities — no hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, or intense workouts for at least 48 hours
Don’t exfoliate or irritate — no shaving (for 24–48 hours on sensitive areas), plucking, waxing, or harsh scrubs for 4–5 days
Stay out of the sun — avoid direct sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 1 month; always use SPF 30+
Keep skin clean and dry; pat dry after cool showers
Extended aftercare
Protect pigmentation — SPF use for 1 month or longer to prevent hyperpigmentation
Monitor reactions — mild redness, swelling, tingling or bruising may persist 1–14 days; use cool compresses or antihistamines as needed
Manage blistering/crusting — keep clean and dry; don’t pick; contact clinic if needed for an emergency
Gentle skincare — avoid active creams (retinoids, acids, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide) for about a week; restart as advised
Resume shaving only — once skin has calmed; continue avoiding plucking/waxing throughout treatment course
